….  The morning session was well-attended. While the Chennai media was in full force, out of towners were surprisingly few. But then no surprises there, as TCS CFO Mahalingam remarked:  the CII Connect forum and Chennai have become an integral part of the ICT sector here. While recounting the growth of the IT sector in Chennai and Tamil Nadu, he reflected on how CII Connect has aided this growth. It is not only the Cognizants and Polaris along with TCS that are part of the familiar ITscape in Chennai, the city, and more so the state has become the manufacturing hub for the automotive sector, and increasingly the pharmaceutical sector.

… A SEZ consultant remarks that Chennai is becoming the hub of R&D for all sectors. Serviced apartments are selling like hot sales, does it mean a floating population, albeit a high-net worth base or is real estate undergoing a change?? Chennai has always lead the way, with its gated communities , primarily due to politicians housed in posh residential localities, think Poes Garden.

…The buzz is around sessions and parallel tracks, but attendees are also looking forward to winding down after long sessions, most of them quite interesting even if the accent is difficult to follow at times. This evening’s wing ding is at Fisherman’s Cove.

The venue for CII Connect 2010 is Chennai Trade Center. The Chennai Trade Centre is located at Nandambakkam adjacent to St. Thomas Mount in an area of over 25 acres of land with four modules of 5000 square meters each of exhibition halls and support services.
